We have been so busy for the past few days that I could not get time to post news. Our temperatures have really soared way over the 30’s and we have to water the veggie garden twice a day.
Our farm is not very big so the cattle farming must be done with great care. Everything is very calculated. We even control when the calves should be born. We have a very kind neighbour with an enormous farm, so he agrees to let our bulls visit on his farm when we want to keep them away from our cows. We have one gigantic bull that must weigh about 1200KG and he stands no nonsense. He would for instance herd a whole lot of cows into a corner and not let the other bulls anywhere near them. Big ego this guy. He struts around like he owns the place.
Well we had a call from our neighbour this morning asking if the bulls can come back home this week. He is apparently causing chaos next door. Breaking fences, causing terror all over. We have to decide now what we are going to do because it is still too early in the season for the bulls to come and to their work. We have cows that are not ready to be covered, their babies have just been born and a few babies of last season are still to be born in the next month. Oh dear what to do.
You guys think you have problems with your children. Try cattle farming. You have to watch their diets all the time, if there is a snotty nose you have to inject, if they have runny tummies you have to medicate. It never stops. Don’t complain in future, you can send you kids off to Gran when you want a break.
Soon again
