First Update on Rich Ranch the Farm for 2011

Update on Rich Ranch for 2011

Who can imagine that a year speeds by so swiftly. I am always trying to justify why I don't have enough time to keep this blog up to date. Fortunately or unfortunately for me I have now come to realize that I do not organize my time properly and although we are now in April already I think this is what I would like to do.
I love writing, I am going to try my utmost best to keep this blog up to date.
Today as Richard and I were returning from Boksburg ( we spent a week up there) we turned off the highway into Middelburg and saw what the public do not see or even think of when they use their electricity irresponsibly. Take a look at this.  A 5 kilometer long queue of trucks loading coal for the power stations.
Fifteen years ago was the when we decided to buy the farm out here. The air way clear and crisp and the veld untouched in this area just off the highway.
Today the roads are black from the coal dust. The air is smoggy and you no longer see the veld  just a wall of sand that blocks your view and you are unable to see what is happening on the inside.
It has been stated that these mines have a twelve year life but at the current rate if they have a six year life we are very lucky.
We are still very fortunate that we are on the northern side of Middelburg and the mines have invaded us here yet.
This sounds like a very dark writeup but we have to take note of what is going on around us. We still live in a paradise and not a day goes by that I am not very grateful that I have the privelidge of enjoying the beauty of the farm.
My next blog will be much happier but at least the down side of this has got me going again.
I will keep you posted
