Invigorating Morning on Rich Ranch.

Do you ever get up and feel this is a "Get up and Go Day", well today was one for me. It was one of those crisp, bright Mpumalanga mornings.

While Richard was showering I made us a cup of coffee and dressed up in my walking gear. You should have seen the surprise in his eyes. He was off on an early morning appointment and me ever so clever was going to make use of this. I was going to catch a lift to the top of the farm and then take a walk back home knowing full well that this was all downhill and I could say I did a good 3km walk and check this out, I would open and close all the gates for Richard on his way out. My good deed for the day.

Now if you have ever visited us you will know that by the time you get to the hall down in the valley you have opened and closed four gates, which can be an absolute pain when you are on your own.

What a lovely experience. When we are so busy on the farm we sometimes forget how beautiful it all is. The sun was just coming up on my back as I made my way back home and on my right the blesbuck stopped to have a look who was invading their space so early in the morning. Our blesbuck are very tame and come pretty close as we do very little hunting and it just thrilled me to the bone to be out there. Not a soul around and absolute silence except for the wind through the trees and snorting of the blesbuck. I should do this more often. It's good for the soul.
