Well the weekend with no power is over and it made me realize how we take certain thing for granted. Take your power supply for example. You don’t think about what drives your hairdryer, your kettle, your geyser, your stove. We still have a few items that work on gas but it amazed us that we were inconvenienced in such a way. Once again it makes me very thankful for all the comforts that I have in my life.
Winter in the "Fairy Forest" |
Yesterday we decided to just follow our noses round the farm and landed up in the “Fairy Forest” which is the favourite place of one of our grandkids. It was quite eerie as the last time we were there the ground was covered in orange mushrooms. (See entry below - 4th June 2011) This time it was bleak and cold but still with that serial feeling that this is a special place.
The granddaughters had a sleep over celebrating one birthday and next week they will be having another one as it is the others birthday. They will both have to wait for the presents as we won’t be travelling up to Johannesburg until the end of July. We will treat them and it will be like having another birthday again. Oh how lovely to be nine years old again.
Work on the farm is slowly progressing and we should be finished within the next ten days. I can’t wait to have everything in order again.
